Windows Login

When the client logs into their computer and they get the Windows Logon box if they cancel or escape by this box they will not be able to save passwords.

SUMMARY: Delete Users, Set Users to Use same Preferences, Delete pwl's, reboot and say ok to box.

Users

Removing the Windows Login Box - First you have to make sure there are no User Identities created for Windows. Left click on Start select settings and left click on Control Panel. In the Control Panel they should have an Icon called Users. Double click on the Users icon. If some sort of Wizard comes up that wants you to create a user or there are no users in there just exit. If however there are users created in there highlight them with a left click one at a time and left click delete. Do this until there are no users left and then exit.

Password Icon

Now check the User Profiles by double clicking on the Password icon in the Control Panel. Choose the User Profiles tab and make sure that the bullet is in 'All users of this computer use the same Preferences and Desktop settings'.

PWL's

Deleting pwl Files - next the client will have to delete the pwl file that is associated with the Login box (we'll just delete all of them). Have them left click Start, select Find and choose Files or Folders with a left click. Make sure where it says Look In: that is has (C:) and no other folders (the root of the Hard Disk). Where it says Named: have them type in *.pwl (make sure they know how to type a *). Click Find Now. Highlight anything found with a left click and then hit delete on the keyboard. Make sure they delete them all. Reboot. On reboot the Login box may come back one more time... just click ok on the box DO NOT CANCEL BY IT! The Login box will not come back and they can now save passwords as well.
